BAG PACKING SUCCESS FOR DEIGHTON JUNIORS.

Deighton Juniors football players have been busy at SAINSBURYS SHOREHEAD STORE helping shoppers to pack their bags on a Friday evening.  They raised a very creditable £320.00 pounds and thanks are due to all those who took part and Maddy who organised it.  Another bag packing is due to take place at MORRISONS STORE AT HECKMONDWIKE early in  December.  We hope that many of our players will turn out again to raise much needed funds for our Club.  We need at least £1000.00 per month top just keep our Club afloat.  We thank SAINSBURY’ and MORRISON’S for their support.  We also get support from BATLEYS CASH AND CARRY and a nember of other sponsors from time to time.  If you know of anyone who would be willing to help us please ask them to contact Maddy on 01484 414936.

PLAYSCHEMES in 2016

For the last 10 years we have been fortunate to obtain funding from Kirklees Council’s – Integrated Young People’s Support Service (IYSS) Without this funding we would not be able to continue with our regular Holiday Playschemes.

Our playschemes have contiuned to run and grow: this year 2016 we had playschemes at Feb Half Term, Easter, Springbank Half Term and we will holding one October Hal term. Our playschemes continue to gain lots of new members as well as many returning faces, causing numbers ranging over the sessions to 50-70 young people every week.

Various activities continued to take place from sports in the Hall to arts & crafts in the training room. This year we took advantage of good weather, and started Football Development Camps a new favourite for the young people out on the playing fields. Football takes place in the morning right through to the afternoon.

MANY THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS  – IYSS

DISP LOOKS TO THE FUTURE! PARTNERSHIP WORKING WITH SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY.

At the beginning of a very special new year, Olympic Year 2016, we are looking forward to working very closely with the Pennine Schools Sports Partnership and to support delivery of various sports activities at both our new School, the North Huddersfield Trust School in Fartown, and our new Community Centre, Northfield Hall, situated in the Brackenhall/Ferndale neighbourhood.

We are looking forward to this new challenge which will enable us to widen our opportunities to introduce young people to sports and fitness activities.  We have a fine team of coaches who are working with local young people and we believe that they are having a genuine impact by not only introducing young people to sport, but also by helping them to become aware of the wider Community and to realise the importance of Teamwork, not just in Sport, but in life.

The new School has already got off to a splendid start, and many of our young people will benefit  from the positive work of Dr A. Williams and his Staff.  We believe that there will be many benefits for our community from our partnership working.  We also believe that we can use our experience to really get Northfield Hall up and running as a Community facility which is providing a wide reange of opportunities for people of all ages.  The Brackenhall Trust is to be congratulated on all that they have achieved and we look forward to working with them in the new Centre.
